OBJECTIVES OF THE KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTER (KRC)
Support Academic Excellence:
Provide timely and efficient access to information resources that support the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and staff.
Promote Information Literacy: Develop and conduct information literacy programs to help students and faculty enhance their research skills, critical thinking, and digital literacy.
Enhance Resource Availability: Continuously expand the collection of physical and digital resources, including books, journals, e-books, and databases, ensuring access to the latest and most relevant materials in various academic fields.
Facilitate Technological Integration: Utilize advanced library management systems and cutting-edge technologies to
streamline services, improve user experiences, and promote ease of access to information.
Foster Research and Innovation: Provide resources and tools to support scholarly work, including research assistance and
plagiarism detection services, to uphold academic integrity and promote original research.
Create a User-Centric Environment: Ensure a welcoming and accessible library atmosphere that caters to the diverse needs
of its users through user-friendly services, including open access systems and personalized assistance.
Collaborate and Share Knowledge: Establish partnerships with other institutions and knowledge networks to facilitate
resource sharing, including inter-library loans, and enhance access to a broader range of academic materials.
Promote Lifelong Learning: Encourage a culture of continuous learning by offering resources and services that support
personal and professional growth, beyond formal academic programs.
LIBRARY SERVICES & FACILITIES
Library Timings: The library operates from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on all working days, excluding Sundays and institutional holidays. During the examination period, which typically runs from October to May, the Reading Hall remains open until 9:00 pm, offering extended hours for students preparing for their exams.
Digital Resources: The library provides access to a wide range of digital and electronic resources, including both subscription-based and open access materials. These digital resources are available in formats that can be accessed and read using electronic media, ensuring convenient access to academic journals, e-books, and other scholarly content.
Reading Halls: The library features three spacious and well-designed reading halls that together accommodate more than 750 students at a time. These spaces provide a conducive environment for quiet study and concentration.
Reading Spaces (Cubicles): In addition to the general reading halls, the library offers private reading cubicles specifically designed for faculty members and research scholars. These cubicles allow for focused, long-duration reading and research work.
Home Lending: The home lending service allows students, faculty, and staff to borrow books and materials for use outside the library, promoting continuous learning and study beyond the confines of the library space.
Inter-Library Lending: The library facilitates inter-library lending services, enabling users to borrow resources from other libraries within affiliated networks when specific materials are not available in-house.
Bibliographic Services (On Demand): The library offers bibliographic services to assist users in locating relevant academic resources, such as articles, books, and journals, based on specific topics of interest. This service is available upon request.
Reference Service: The reference service assists users in locating specific information, using both print and digital resources. Trained library staff is available to provide guidance and support for academic queries.
Reprographic Service: The library offers reprographic services, including photocopying and scanning, allowing users to make copies of academic materials for personal study and research purposes.
Guidance for Ph.D. and M.Phil. Students: The library provides dedicated guidance and support to Ph.D. and M.Phil. Students throughout their research journey. This includes assistance in identifying and accessing relevant academic resources, training in effective research strategies, and support in using the plagiarism detection software. Personalized consultations are available to help these students navigate the library’s resources efficiently.
Reading Hall for Extended Hours: During examination periods or peak academic times, a reading hall with extended hours is available to accommodate the needs of students requiring additional time and space for studying.
Library Resources
Library membership is available to all current students, permanent faculty, temporary faculty (upon written request and principal approval), ex-faculty and staff, and other academic/non-academic persons or institutions with principal approval.
